Why do my Pledge participants have to enter an estimated unit of effort?

Synopsis
You would like to remove the ability for participants to choose the number of "Units per Effort" (i.e. pins, laps, miles, etc.) they anticipate will occur as part of your Pledge event.

Solution
You cannot remove the ability for participants to choose the number of anticipated Units per Effort if your event is based on Units of Effort. This field must be filled out for these reasons:

  1. This field is for the donor's benefit. If there is no estimated unit, then your donors have no idea how much they are committing to donating.
  2. The thermometers cannot make a calculation without the estimated unit. The thermometers rise based on the estimated unit times the pledge.

You can define the Average Units per Participant under Pledge -> Settings.

If you do not want to accept Unit per Effort pledges, set Pledge Type Accepted to Fixed at Pledge -> Settings
